A big thank you to all of ARC’s donors who have generously contributed to conserving one of the world’s most biologically diverse ecosystems through our project on GlobalGiving. To date, we have raised over $6,000, which will be used to conserve 780 acres of Eastern Arc rainforest – an area approximately the size of Central Park!

ARC’s current project is supporting conservation of the Ruvu South Forest Reserve, which is severely threatened by illegal logging and charcoal production due to its proximity to the neighboring urban center of Dar Es Salaam.  Project acvities include advocacy and environmental education directed towards creating a Joint Forest Management (JFM) system in Ruvu South – a forestry management practice that forges collaboration between the Tanzanian government and communities neighboring the local forests

From now through October 21st, GlobalGiving will match all donations made to this project:
